a passion for me

Jagua Henna is replacement of black henna and is 100% natural and safe. people use jagua to create henna-like designs, as in floral vines, and lacey patterns. The simple beauty of henna most superbly translates regardless of the medium. It’s absolutely gorgeous and jagua only needs one to two hours because it’s a much stronger dye.

Warning

No Black Henna

This is a gorgeous, safe alternative to the dangerous “black henna” products out there. The main ingredient in black henna is a hair dying chemical called para-phenylenediamine or PPD for short. PPD is an extremely harmful substance that can cause severely burn the skin due to allergic reactions to the chemical. A PPD reaction can leave permanent scarring on the skin and lead to permanent allergies to all hair dying products. There have been report of people being rushed to the emergency room after having received a black henna tattoo.

What is jagua?

Full name Genipa Americana, Jagua (also known as Huito) is a fruit (looking a bit like a potato on a tree) that is grown mostly on the African and American continent, historically used by indigenous tribes for traditional body art. Jagua as a word orignates with the Taino.

How does jagua work?

The dye molecule in the jagua fruit is the genipa molecule, it attaches itself to protein in our skin/nails, thus dying the epidermis until our skin naturally sheds which is typically a 1 to 2 week natural process, it heavily dependent on good aftercare.he dye molecule in the jagua fruit is the genipa molecule, it attaches itself to protein in our skin/nails, thus dying the epidermis until our skin naturally sheds which is typically a 1 to 2 week natural process, it heavily dependent on good aftercare.
